Gilgit area

Gilgit is the area where the first important discoveries of gem minerals in pegmatites have been made. The valley has an average elevation of 1,454 meters. Still now the area gives very aesthetic specimens of Aquamarines, topaz, tourmalines, apatites, fluorites, quartz, morganite, grossularia,albite, orthoclase, feldspars  shorl, and a lot of other minerals typical of the pegmatite and the"alpine" crystalisations . In the same mineralogical district there is the Hunza Valley, Situated at an elevation of 2,438 meters.
